Olympic FC are excited to welcome Vedrana (Vee) Popovic for the 2023 season.

The former W-League star arrives at Goodwin Park following an illustrious career playing for Brisbane Roar FC, Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United.

Popovic began her professional career as one of the youngest members of the inaugural Brisbane Roar Squad, then named Queensland Roar, that won the W-League in the 2008/09 season.

The fullback continued her W-League career playing for Melbourne Victory in the 2009/10 season and Adelaide United in the 2010/11 season. She returned to Brisbane Roar the following season, where she played up until 2015.

During her time at Brisbane Roar between 2011-2015, Popovic was a member of the U17 and U20 Australian squad before being called up to represent the Matildas in 2013.

Head coach Russell Sommerville is glad to have such an experienced player in the squad, naming her captain for the season ahead.

“I’m very excited to have Vee at Olympic. She is an obvious choice to lead the club with her experience and leadership qualities. Vee will play a big part in building the player led culture we are looking to build at Olympic,” Sommerville said.

Popovic, who will captain the squad for the 2023 season is excited to be at Olympic.

“I’ve always wanted to play for Olympic FC, I love the club culture and professionalism and am really excited to be a part of the team for the 2023 season,” Popovic said.

“My aim for the season is to help the team get into the top 4 and to foster a great team culture.”

Welcome to Olympic, Vee!
