PREVIEW
Olympic face Young Roar at Goodwin Park on Sunday evening (6pm KO) with the race for finals football heating up.
The NPL Queensland’s top six sides face off in what shapes up as a massive weekend in the make up of the 2021 season.
Both Olympic and Young Roar come into Sunday’s match having won both their games since their return from a month long COVID enforced break, Olympic’s run without defeat in the league stretches back 14-matches.
Roar sit second, three points ahead of Olympic, who are fifth although Olympic have a game in hand on Sunday’s opposition.
LAST TIME WE MET
Olympic and Young Roar played out a 2-2 draw in an enthralling contest at Goodwin Park in May.
Daniel Leck and Zac Anderson were on target for Olympic, but goals from Josh Moreland and Eli Adams saw Roar twice claw their way back to claim a point.
WHAT WAS SAID – Forward: Daniel Leck
“It’s a massive game for our season, the top six teams are playing each other this weekend, so it’s very important that we get three points to put us in a good spot heading into the back end of the season.
“The first win back against Knights was huge for us, huge for the confidence, last week (Capalaba) was a bit of a grind but it just shows that we can find a way to win and how together the boys are.
“We can grind a tough win in difficult conditions like that, our confidence is high at the moment.
“Three points this weekend puts us right in the mix, we just need to keep winning games, keep getting three points every week and the rest will take care of itself.”
