Kristi New completes Olympic return

Olympic Football Club are pleased to confirm the return of Kristi New ahead of the 2022 NPL Queensland Women’s season.

The 26-year-old defender, returns for a second stint at Goodwin Park after  spending the past two seasons at Logan.

New captained Logan in her two seasons at the club, where she played alongside fellow new recruits, Lua Suero and Brittney Lacek.

The defender also won the club’s Player of the Year award in 2020 as part of a Logan side that made the NPL Women’s Grand Final.

Prior to her spell at Cornubia Park, New played for Moreton Bay alongside Lena Daniells and Grace Chalmers as the Jets reached the 2019 NPL Women’s Grand Final.

Adding to her experience in the big dance, New’s first stint at Olympic included the 2016 NPLW Grand Final, she was also awarded Olympic’s Players Player in 2017.

New said she was delighted to be back in red and white ahead of the 2022 season.

“Returning to the old stomping ground, now that the women are back in the NPL there’s no reason not to want to join Olympic,” New said.

“They have a great culture and Club, I can’t wait to be back in red and white for 2022.

“I just want to have a successful and enjoyable season both individually and as a team, I plan to do my part and hope to add value to the squad. Taking points each week and pushing for a top four spot.”

New joins Brittney Lacek, Lua Suero, Faith Stephenson and Christina Amajouyi as the fifth arrival at Goodwin Park ahead of the 2022 NPL Queensland Women’s Season.
