To our Olympic community,
We are pleased to see that Stage 2 of the easing of restrictions has been brought forward to midday today, 1st June. However, with only 20 people allowed per venue, it makes it difficult for the club to resume training for over 500 players. We continue working with Football Queensland who are actively seeking a flexibility of restrictions from the Queensland Government for clubs with outdoor facilities. We are expecting an update from Football Queensland later this week.
In the meantime we are working on getting the club ready for a return to play. When you do come back to training, you can expect things to be different. This includes new instructions for drop off and pick up, guidelines on social spacing, new hygiene rules and sanitisation stations. We will send this essential information out to players and families in the coming days.
We are meeting with coaches this week to discuss a return to training and new training schedules will be available once we confirm the numbers allowed per venue. We are also waiting for the dates for a return to competitive matches and these will be passed on to you as soon as we have them.
One thing you can do in preparation is to download the COVID Safe app from the App Store to help with contact tracing. This helps keep everyone safe.
The office will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We’ll do our best to answer your questions, but we appreciate your patience as things rapidly change.
It won’t be long before we are ready to welcome players, coaches and supporters back to the club.
Many thanks for your support and understanding.
Regards,
Peter Ioannidis
