Olympic FC will look to continue their winning start to the 2022 NPL Queensland season when they go head-to-head with Young Roar at Underwood Park on Sunday evening (5:30pm KO).
Following a disrupted lead up Olympic finally got their season underway with a 1-0 win over Brisbane City thanks to a brilliant Takeru Okada goal on debut last weekend.
The result saw Head Coach, Ben Cahn maintain his perfect opening day record in red and white, taking the three points for a fifth straight season.
Widespread predictions that we were in for the most competitive NPL Queensland season yet appear to have merit with Olympic being the only side from last season’s top four to win on opening weekend.
Young Roar, who Olympic faced in last season’s Semi Final kicked off their campaign with a 2-2 draw against Logan Lightning last Sunday, Cyrus Dehmie and Eli Adams found the back of the net for the boys in orange.
Keegan Jelacic, one of four players to put in an impressive display on debut in last weekend’s win over City lines up against his former club on the weekend after making the switch from Roar to Olympic in the Summer.
Jelacic is one of four players in the Olympic squad to have played in the A-League for Brisbane Roar, with a further six having represented the Roar at youth level.

LAST TIME WE MET
Olympic defeated Young Roar 3-0 in an emphatic display in last season’s Semi Final at Goodwin Park in November.
Daniel Leck sent the home crowd into delirium when he opened the scoring after just 17 seconds with a brilliant strike on the end of a well worked team move.
Steve Whyte and Isaka Cernak added to the scoring in the second half in what was a night to remember at Goodwin Park.
Olympic and Young Roar have faced each other 17 times in NPL Queensland action with Olympic taking nine wins, Young Roar winning on five occasions, while there have been three draws between the sides.

“I think with the delay in the season we’ve had, we are just happy to take it game by game at the moment, we’re are all excited to be out playing football again.
“I think each week we are only going to grow as a whole, the quicker the games come the more we are going to be able to come out and show what we have in store.
“When you bring in a lot of new and fresh faces it brings energy and a good vibe around the team, we’re hungry for success and excited by the potential of this group.
