Olympic FC Head Coach, Ben Cahn says his side are ready to give everything in Sunday’s Semi Final against Gold Coast Knights at Goodwin Park (6pm KO).

Olympic go in search of a third straight Semi Final win when they take on the Knights in their final home match of the 2020 NPL Queensland season.

Olympic, who are on a club-record 15 match NPL Queensland unbeaten run finished the regular season in second position, two-points ahead of third placed Knights.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s match, Cahn said he was incredibly proud of the fight and desire shown by the group this season.

“It’s a great achievement to be in finals again, we don’t have the same resources as the big three clubs, so to have kept up with them for another year, especially this year, is something special,” Cahn said.

“When we came back from the break we were in a really difficult position in terms of the league table and the club got hit quite hard in a lot of areas.

“The players and staff have been amazing, everyone agreed to stay and give everything, fight for the club and each other and see where we could end up.”

The two sides traded blows through Kazuya Ito & Jheison Macuace in a 1-1 draw in their last encounter at Goodwin Park in September.

Sunday’s match will be Olympic’s third home NPL Queensland Semi-Final, having won out against Brisbane Strikers and Western Pride in 2013 & 2018 respectively.

Cahn said his side couldn’t wait to get going in front what will no doubt be a strong home support at Goodwin Park on Sunday.

“It’s exciting to be at home, 2018 against Western Pride was an amazing day, I’m sure the Olympic community will come together again and create another good atmosphere,” Cahn said.

“15 games unbeaten is a great effort, so we’re confident going in to the game but finals are finals, the games are always a bit messy so we’ll focus on what we can control, we’ll work hard, give everything and put in the best performance we can.” Cahn said.

The winner of Sunday’s match will face either Peninsula Power or Lions in next weekend’s Grand Final at Perry Park.
