Olympic FC are in midweek NPL Queensland action, facing Brisbane Strikers at Perry Park on Tuesday night.
Olympic will be very familiar with Tuesday’s opponents, having faced Brisbane Strikers just two weeks ago in the reverse fixture at Goodwin Park.
Despite suffering a 1-0 defeat on that occasion, Head Coach Ben Cahn says there were plenty of positives to take from their previous meeting with Strikers and head into Tuesday’s clash full of confidence.
“We played well against them two weeks ago and it was obviously disappointing to dominate like we did and come away with nothing,” Cahn said.
“They defended really well, but I think it’ll be a different game tomorrow. I’d imagine they’ll try to play a bit more and press a bit higher with the pressure of being at home and coming off the back of a couple of good results.”
Olympic come into Tuesday’s clash off the back of a 3-2 win against Redlands United in their last outing, with Cahn adding his side were eager to continue their winning run.
“It was a good three points for us at Redlands last week and the boys have trained really well since.
“They’re a great group, there’s a lot of determination to win and to keep improving so I’m expecting a big performance at Perry Park tomorrow night,” Cahn said.
New signing, Tasuku Sekiya impressed on debut in last week’s win at Redlands, scoring Olympic’s third goal in a 30 minute cameo off the bench.
Cahn hinted that Sekiya along with fellow new signing, Ajdin Fetahagic were in with a chance to get minutes against Strikers.
“Suki (Sekiya) and AJ (Fetahagic) are getting close now, so we’ll make a decision tonight on how we use them for run of games coming up,” Cahn said.
