MATCH WRAP
Olympic secured their return to the NPL with an emphatic 5-0 win over derby rivals Brisbane City on Saturday night at Goodwin Park.
Allira Toby, Willow Liukaina, Grace Chalmers, Taleisha Derrick and Olympic goalkeeper Julia Duffy all got in the scoring to cap off a successful season in the FQPL.
Toby opened the scoring just before half time with a long-range strike for her 11th goal of the season, sending the home side into the break with the lead.
Liukaina doubled Olympic’s lead in the 57th minute heading home a Chalmers corner to make it two.
Grace Chalmers and Olympic goalkeeper Julia Duffy then both grabbed their first goals of the year – Chalmers goal coming from a first time strike just inside the box into the top right corner in the 70th minute before Duffy converted a penalty after Rosie Sutton was fouled inside the area moments later.
Taleisha Derrick also scored her first of the season to wrap up the FQPL Womens title and promotion back to the NPL for Olympic with a strike sent into the bottom corner moments before the final whistle.
Saturday’s win sees Olympic end the season on top of the table with 45 points, three points clear of second placed Western Pride.
