Olympic FC have bolstered their defensive stocks with the addition of Ajdin Fetahagic who joins on loan from NPL Victoria outfit, Heidelberg United for the remainder of the 2020 season.
A towering 6’4’ centre back, Fetahagic makes the move north after the NPL Victoria season was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A move to Olympic marks a home coming of sorts for the Queenslander who’s previously played locally with Western Pride, Lions FC and Brisbane Roar’s youth team.
Further afield, the 23-year-old has spent time in Europe with the youth team of Bosnian Premier League club, FK Velez Mostar.
More recently, Fetahagic plied his trade in Victoria at South Melbourne and Kingston City as well as Heidelberg.
After completing his two-weeks quarantine on the Gold Coast, Fetahagic trained with his new teammates for the first time this week.
“I’ve heard great things about Ben Cahn and the club. I want to win things here and I feel like we can do that.” Fetahagic said.
“There’s a great squad here, great attacking players, obviously, with Tasuku Sekiya just signing as well, he’s a great player.”
“I wanted to go somewhere that I was going to be playing and where I was happy with the team, the style of football and obviously, the club as well.
“I’m still an aspiring footballer as well so if something happens in the A-League, that’s still an ambition of mine.
“Ultimately, i want to contribute as much as i can and help the team push for silverware while I’m here and go back down south when I can with a good season under my belt.”
Olympic Head Coach, Ben Cahn said Fetahagic was a fantastic addition for his side.
Fetahagic will wear the number four jersey and is available for selection for Saturday’s NPL Queensland Round 24 clash against Redlands United at Compass Grounds.
