Preparations for the 2022 NPL Queensland season stepped up a notch as Olympic recorded a 3-1 victory over Western Pride at Springfield Sporting Complex on Saturday afternoon.
22 players got valuable minutes in the legs as new recruits Takeru Okada and Zac Kierpal grabbed their first goals for the club.
It took just three minutes for Olympic’s new signings to link up in front of goal with Keegan Jelacic playing in Okada, who opened the scoring with a finish that found it’s way into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
Okada added a second goal in the tenth minute when he fired home a booming volley from a tight angle at the back post.
Kierpal made it 3-0 on the stroke of half time when he turned home a bouncing ball with a delicate first-time dinked finish from inside the area after deftly being played in by Costa Psaros.
Both sides made wholesale changes in the final 45 minutes with Nathan Yoon scoring the only goal of the second stanza in dying stages of the match.
Olympic will kick off their 2022 NPL Queensland campaign at home against Eastern Suburbs on Sunday, February 27 (6pm KO).
