The former Socceroo and A-League Championship winner arrives at Goodwin Park as a stalwart of the NPL after three seasons at Gold Coast Knights.

The now 33-year-old midfielder starred for Knights on their way to the title in 2019 and was named in NPL Queensland All Stars sides in both 2020 and 2021.

Nichols arrives at Olympic following a storied career that’s included five Socceroos caps, 12 years in the A-League as well as a season in Japan’s J-League with Cerezo Osaka where he played alongside Takeru Okada.

Nichols began his career at Brisbane Roar where he won back-to-back A-League Championships under Ange Postecoglou.

The midfielder would go on to make 226 A-League appearances, playing for the Roar, Melbourne Victory, Perth Glory, Western Sydney Wanderers and Wellington Phoenix scoring 39 goals in the process.

Nichols was named in the PFA Team of the Season in both the 2011/12 and 2015/16 seasons.

Nichols joins Daniel Leck, Shannon Brady and Matt Mundy as the fourth member of Olympic’s current squad with A-League experience.

Olympic’s newest recruit will wear the number 16 jersey and is available for selection for Saturday’s derby against Brisbane City at CTM Stadium (5:30pm KO).

Welcome to Olympic, Mitch!
