MATCH WRAP
A late Allira Toby header saw Olympic continue their FQPL Women’s winning run with a tense 1-0 victory over The Gap at Walton Bridge Reserve on Saturday evening.
Despite creating a host of chances Olympic were unable to break the deadlock in the first half, Nadine Keast came closest for the visitors, twice hitting the woodwork with her efforts on goal.
Olympic were reduced to ten players early in the second half when defender, Tiffany Dibley was shown a straight red card in the 53rd minute.
Despite their numerical disadvantage it was Olympic who found a way through with Toby’s 76th minute looping header proving to be the decisive moment of the match.
Saturday’s win sees Olympic maintain their spot atop of the FQPL Women’s standings with 35 points to their name.
Olympic’s defence remains unbreached in FQPL action this season, as they held firm for a fourth straight clean sheet and ninth overall of the 2021 season.
