Olympic defeated Caboolture 6-1 at Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex on Friday night as preparations for the 2022 NPL Queensland season continue to ramp up.

Keegan Jelacic scored his first goals for the club, netting a brace to add to strikes from Shannon Brady, Zac Anderson, Zac Kierpal and Costa Psaros as 22 players got more valuable match minutes in the legs.

Brady opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Takeru Okada’s cross on the end of a well worked team move found him at the back post before he brought the ball down and finished into the bottom corner.

The home side pulled a goal back in the 31st minute but their parity was short live with Olympic restoring their lead just six minutes later when Anderson powered home a commanding header from a Steve Whyte corner.

Jelacic opened his Olympic account 10 minutes into the second half, gliding past several defenders before slamming an effort into the bottom corner from a tight angle.

Olympic’s new number eight got his second in eleven minutes later, smashing a strike into the roof of the net after being played in by Kierpal.

Kierpal got in on the goalscoring act in the 81st minute blasting a cutback from Psaros into the back of the next from close range.

Psaros then rounded out the 6-1 scoreline in the 86th minute, turning home Jayden Dee’s cross at the back post.

Friday’s result adds to pre-season wins over Broadeach and Western Pride as Olympic continue to build ahead of the 2022 season.

Olympic will kick off their 2022 NPL Queensland campaign at home against Eastern Suburbs on Sunday, February 27 (6pm KO).
