MATCH REPORT: Moreton Bay 0-4 Olympic

Olympic FC returned to the winners circle with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Moreton Bay at Wolter Park on Sunday afternoon.

Goals from Costa Psaros, Daniel Leck, Jez Lofthouse & Jack Glover ensured Olympic would return to Goodwin Park with three points and their second win of the 2020 NPL Queensland campaign.

Psaros opened the scoring on the stroke of half time when his curling effort from the edge of the area crept past Jets goalkeeper Bertrum Speirs and into the back of the net.

Just two minutes into the second half Leck doubled Olympic’s advantage, putting the finishing touch on a sweeping attack to open his goal scoring account in red and white.

Lofthouse got in on the act in the 60th minute, hammering home Psaros’ cutback for Olympic’s third of the afternoon and his third of 2020 NPL Queensland season.

Glover rounded out the scoring in the 87th minute when he rose highest to nod home a Kazuya Ito cross and wrap up the 4-0 win for Olympic.

The result which equals the club’s biggest ever margin of victory over Moreton Bay extends Olympic’s unbeaten run against the Jets to eight NPL Queensland matches.

Speaking post-match, Olympic midfielder Daniel Leck said there was plenty to like about his sides showing in Sunday’s win over the Jets.

“I thought the boys put in a really good team performance and we definitely backed up our good showing from last week,” Leck said.

“This is just the start, now we have to push on and keep getting three points each week.”

Leck’s second half strike was his first for Olympic, the 21-year-old said he was delighted to get off the mark for his new club.

“It was a really good feeling to get my first goal for the club and help secure the three points for the team, hopefully that will be the first of many this season.”

Olympic’s focus now turns to next Sunday’s clash against Young Roar at Goodwin Park (6pm KO).
