PREVIEW
Olympic go in search of another three points in their push for a fourth successive NPL Queensland finals campaign when they take on Redlands United at Goodwin Park on Saturday night (6pm KO).
Despite currently sitting sixth in an incredibly tightly congested top half of the table, Olympic’s fate remains very much in their hands with games in hand on several sides above them with just five rounds remaining in the regular season.
Olympic come into Saturday’s clash at home off the back of a 3-0 win over Logan at Cornubia Park last weekend.
Redlands currently languish in 12th position on the league table and will be relegated if they lose on Saturday night and Capalaba get a result at Heath Park against Easts.
LAST TIME WE MET
Olympic ran out 3-1 winners over Redlands in the reverse fixture at Compass Grounds in June.
Jez Lofthouse opened the scoring early on before a second half Daniel Leck brace secured all three points for the visitors.
Olympic have won their last ten matches against Redlands in a run that stretches back to April 2016.
WHAT WAS SAID – Danny Driver: Defender
“The team is motivated to put on a proper performance and make a statement for a home crowd this Saturday night coming into this final stretch of the season.
“We are looking to build on last week’s dominant performance, the confidence and motivation amongst the team is continuing to grow week by week and we can’t wait to be back in front of our home crowd on Saturday.
“We know how important every match is, we know we cannot afford a dip in performance, but we know the talent and potential this team has and we are going to show that coming into the last part of the season.
“I like the fact the league is more competitive this year, there’s no easy games, there’s plenty of tough grounds to go to and there is a good fight for finals football this year.
“However, we know if we play to our ability and continue to just worry about ourselves the rest will take care of itself.
“The confidence and motivation amongst the team is high and we know as a team what we are capable of.”
