Olympic are back in midweek NPL Queensland action taking on Eastern Suburbs at Goodwin Park on Wednesday night (7:30pm KO).
Olympic battle their near neighbours in their seventh outing of the 2022 season in Wednesday’s Round One catch up clash.
Despite being held to a 2-2 draw against Capalaba at Max Haynes Field in their last outing on Saturday night Olympic remain the NPL Queensland’s only undefeated side and sit two points clear at the top of the league.
Zac Kierpal netted his third goal in his last four games while Keegan Jelacic scored his eighth goal in all competitions for the season in Saturday’s draw.
Easts come into Wednesday’s match off the back of a 1-0 win over Gold Coast Knights on Sunday afternoon which leaves them sitting in sixth position with nine points to their name so far this season.
LAST TIME WE MET
Despite enjoying the majority of possession and chances Olympic were unable to find a breakthrough against a resolute Easts defence in a 0-0 draw at Goodwin Park in July last season.
Olympic and Easts have gone head-to-head previously six times in NPL Queensland action with Olympic winning twice, Easts winning once and there having been three draws between the sides.
WHAT WAS SAID: Ben Cahn Head Coach
“We’re obviously disappointed with the result on the weekend, so we’re looking forward to getting back out on the pitch.
“The boys are hungry to bounce back, put in a good performance and get three points.
“They (Easts) look to have found a tactical balance in recent weeks that works well for them and they’re coming off a good result so we’ll have to be ready and at our best.”
