PREVIEW

Olympic are seeking their sixth straight FQPL Women’s win they face Mitchelton at Teralba Park on Saturday evening with the pointy end of their promotion push fast approaching.

The FQPL league leaders have been in superb form following the competition split in July, winning every match, scoring 17 goals and conceding just once in the process.

The 91st minute goal Olympic conceded in their 2-1 win over Virginia in their last outing brought an end to a run 450 minutes without conceding.

With just three rounds remaining Olympic are one point ahead of Western Pride at the top of the table.

Mitchelton currently sit fourth on the FQPL Women’s standings, 12 points shy of league leaders Olympic.

LAST TIME WE MET

Olympic defeated Mitchelton 3-0 at Goodwin Park thanks to goals from Angie Beard, Tiffany Dibley and Allira Toby in June.

Beard, who made her Matildas debut earlier this month scored in what was her only appearance for Olympic at Goodwin Park.

WHAT WAS SAID – Matalena Daniells: Defender

“We’re really looking forward to it, it’s going to be a big game, especially being one of the last three games of the season.

“We’re ready to show up, put in a good performance and get the three points.

“Being able to win all six games in the FQPL while only conceding one goal so far has been really promising, we’re still improving and becoming more clinical in front of goal week by week.

“We know we’re more than capable of beating them (Mitchelton) but on any given day anyone can beat anyone so we just need to make sure that we’re ready to go and we’re going to be able to play the best that we can.

“It’s hard not to think about what could be next season with the NPL as our goal, but we just have to focus on the game at hand, making sure that everyone’s able to win their battles and play to their best.

“That week off really came at a good time ahead of these last three games which probably are our biggest competitors for promotion, so everyone’s feeling really good after a bit of a freshen up last week and ready to go after a good solid week of training.”
