PREVIEW
Olympic round out the 2021 NPL Queensland regular season with a trip to face Brisbane Strikers at Perry Park on Sunday evening (5pm KO).
A point will be enough to secure Olympic their spot in a fourth straight NPL Queensland finals series where they’ll join Peninsula Power, Young Roar and Lions.
Depending on final results day results Olympic will finish anywhere between second and fifth on the final standings.
Olympic are chasing a fourth win on the bounce after defeating Magpies Crusaders, Lions and Sunshine Coast Wanderers in their last three outings.
Strikers have already been consigned to relegation to the FQPL sitting in 13th, picking up just eight points this season.
LAST TIME WE MET
Olympic recorded their biggest ever NPL Queensland win with a 10-0 hammering of Strikers in the reverse fixture at Goodwin Park in May.
Shelford Dais, Costa Psaros, Daniel Leck, Shannon Brady & James Cuminao all found the back of the net in the landslide result.
WHAT WAS SAID – Phil Lasm: Midfielder
“After four amazing seasons, it’s an awesome feeling, being able to reach 100 games at Olympic.
“When I started here, it was to test myself. I’m thankful for my teammates, the coaching staff, the club and the supporters for trusting me to do the job. That’s the reason why I’ve been here for many seasons, plus I’ve been enjoying my football in this environment.
“Just like the past few weeks, we know we need a result. I’m confident in the team that we will go out there and get the job done.
“Picking up three points on Sunday is super important so we can finish as highly as possible heading into finals.”
