Olympic FC Captain, Matalena Daniells says her side her side are getting stronger week-by-week ahead of Saturday’s clash against Moreton Bay United at Goodwin Park on Saturday night (6:15pm KO).
Olympic’s brand new NPL Queensland Women’s side are back at home and looking to kickstart their 2021 season with three points against the Jets on Saturday night.
Daniells, one of seven players from the current squad who played for Olympic during the club’s previous NPL Queensland stint said playing playing at Goodwin Park is always a boost.
“We’re looking forward to being back at home, we’ve got a couple of matches under our belt now and are looking forward to getting out there and putting a few in the back of the net,” Daniells said.
“It’s great to be back at Olympic, playing in front of the great crowd that comes to support us, so we always look forward to playing at home.
“A big reason i came back is that club culture, so it’s great being back and playing at Goodwin Park again.”
Heading into round three of their NPL Queensland Women’s return, Olympic have played out an opening round draw with Virginia United before suffering defeat to defending Champions, Lions last weekend.
Daniells said the new-look Olympic side, who have been together as a squad for just over eleven weeks were getting stronger with each passing session.
“We’ve only been together a couple of months, we’re getting better each week, working towards the plan that Danny (Byrne) has for us,” Daniells said.
“We’re starting to play the brand of football that we want to, we just need to be that bit more clinical in the final third and take those opportunities when they come.
“Once those few little things click the goals will fly in.”
Saturday’s match at Goodwin Park kicks off at 6:15PM & will be live streamed on NPL.TV.
