Olympic Football Club wish to confirm midfielder, Jean-Philippe Lasm will not return to the club for the 2022 NPL Queensland season.
The 31-year-old, who was one of Ben Cahn’s first signings at Goodwin Park spent four seasons at Olympic making 102 appearances in red and white.
After arriving from Surfers Paradise Apollo in 2018 Lasm established himself as one of the league’s best defensive midfielders and earned a spot in the 2021 NPL Queensland Team of the Season.
After making the commute from the Gold Coast to Brisbane up to four times a week for the past four years Lasm will take a step back from NPL-level football in 2022.
Lasm thanked all those who had helped make his time at the club so succesful.
“A massive thank you to the club, the coaching staff, the supporters, the fans, and mostly the players for making my time at Olympic unforgettable,” Lasm said.
“It’s has been an honour to represent the club, from day one. Thank you.”
Head Coach, Ben Cahn heaped praise on Lasm’s invaluable contribution over the years.
“It’s been a pleasure to have worked with Philly over the past four years,” Cahn said.
“His progress has been immense. He’ll be missed as a person and a player and I’m very grateful for his loyalty to myself, the club and the playing group.
“What he brings as a player is almost irreplaceable, it’s very rare in today’s game.
“It’ll be a challenge to replace him but we’re confident we’ll adapt and I’m sure it will allow others to grow.
“It’s the right time in his life to put his focus into other areas, I completely support his decision and wish him all the best moving forward.”
Olympic would like to thank Lasm for his outstanding contribution during his time at the club and wish him every success with the next chapter.
