Doherty signs on for her sixth season at the Club after spending four years at Olympic as part of the Club’s NPLW side before spending the 2018 & 2019 seasons with The Gap.

In 2020 Doherty returned to Olympic as the Club made a return to the senior women’s ranks and captained the team to the Capital League One title.

Doherty played 15 games, scoring four times for Olympic’s Championship winning ladies in 2020.

The 25-year-old, who is adept playing a number of positions across the park and was part of the Olympic side that played in the 2016 NPLW Queensland Grand Final.

The 2014 SEQ Women’s Premier League Player of the Year said she couldn’t wait to be back on the State’s elite stage with Olympic.

“Olympic is my home club. It was a big change in 2017 when we had the license removed, so now that we are back in the NPLW, there’s no other club I would be at,” Doherty said.

“We all have a lot of belief in Danny’s capability to lead the team, as well as in the players who are returning to the club, and the new ones who are joining us for the first time.

“The aim for any senior team is to win. The expectation set by Danny and the players will be high, and within the group we know we can achieve this.”

Stay tuned, we’ve got plenty more NPLW signings to announce in the coming days!
