Dear Parents and Players,
I hope that you’ve all had a safe and enjoyable Easter given the difficult times that we are facing as a global community. On the 1st of April, Football Federation Australia (FFA) declared that as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the current suspension of all sanctioned grassroots football competitions and associated training will continue and be reassessed by 31 May 2020. Football Queensland (FQ) has determined to maintain the suspension in Queensland through to 30 June 2020 opening the possibility that the 2020 FQ and Football Brisbane (FB) competitions could resume in early July.

Football Queensland – Frequently Asked Questions
Olympic is working closely with our member associations FQ and FB regarding the possibility of resuming the 2020 season.
Until that time and in order to help the grassroots football community stay active and connected throughout the temporary suspension period, the FFA recently launched an online Skills Hub, developed in association with each of Australia’s nine Member Federations. To access the Skills Hub and get involved with the #PlayAtHomeChallenge, please visit the FFA Skills Hub on playfootball.com.au.
The Skills Hub allows you to stay connected with the Football community whilst ensuring both your physical and mental wellbeing stay strong.
There are 12 challenges you can undertake within the 4 categories.
• First touch
• Striking the ball
• Running with the ball
• 1v1
Challenge your friends, family and teammates with these skill sets. These challenges are just the beginning, so be creative and show some improvisation in the ‘create your own’ challenge by showing Australia what you’ve got.
In addition, Football Queensland has also created a similar program to keep all our MiniRoos players occupied and enjoying their football whilst we’re forced to isolate as a result of Covid-19. Tune into MiniRoos Recess with Kerry and Zac on Football Queensland Facebook page at 11am Monday to Friday to enjoy fun drills and challenges to keep your Mini Roos players active in your backyard. Training may not be on, but that doesn’t mean your little one can’t enjoy football from home.
If you have any questions, please direct them to Play Football Support.
As always, I will keep our members informed as more information becomes available from the FFA and FQ regarding the recommencement of the 2020 season.
Stay safe and healthy.
Peter Ioannidis,
President
