As we all know, the COVID 19 situation is fast moving and advice is rapidly evolving. I want to reassure everyone that Olympic FC is committed to the health and safety of our members, staff and supporters. We have been monitoring advice from Queensland Health and the Australian Government and working with our partners FFA, Football Queensland and Football Brisbane.
Please note that this is our advice today, but it could change as we respond to advice from the Australian Government and Queensland Health in the coming days, weeks or months.
Banning of mass gatherings
This afternoon, the Prime Minister Scott Morrison, announced the banning of all non-essential, static gatherings of over 500 people from Monday 16 March. As the club has a large supporter base and the senior men’s games can attract large crowds who sit in close proximity, we have made the decision to limit attendance at the senior men’s games to 200 spectators. We ask those that attend to practice social distancing at the game and of course, not to attend if feeling unwell or if they have recently returned from anywhere overseas. More details of how this will be managed will follow.
Business as usual
As for other aspects of the club, business will remain as usual until further notice. However, we ask that everyone observes good hygiene practices, social distancing and stays away from the club if unwell.
At this stage, our AGM will go ahead as planned for Thursday 26 March at 6.30pm at the clubhouse.
What we ask you to do:
If you are feeling unwell, stay away from the club
Advise your coach if you are unwell and can’t attend training or games
If you have recently returned from anywhere overseas, self-isolate for 14 days
Practice good hygiene – wash hands, cough into elbow, don’t share drink bottles or towels
Not shake hands in greeting or with players and refs after games
When attending games, keep social distance of 1.2 – 1.5 metres from other spectators
Keep up to date with club communications
What we will do:
Provide regular updates as the situation changes
Provide a clean and hygienic venue
Cap senior men’s games at 200 spectators
Manage attendance at other games
Keep focused on the health and safety of our staff, members and visitors to the club
Thank you for your patience during these challenging times.
Yours sincerely,
Peter Ioannidis
President
