Olympic Football Club are delighted to announce the addition of Westfield W-League Championship winning Captain, Angela Beard.
Beard arrives at Olympic via Melbourne Victory, whom she captained to a Grand Final win over Sydney FC in this season’s Westfield W-League.
Prior to linking up with her new teammates at Olympic, the 23-year-old, who played 50 games for Victory will spend this week in Sydney after earning a call-up to the Matildas Talent Identification camp.
Beard has also represented Australia at both under-17 and under-20 levels, and has previously spent time with the Matildas in training camps.
Bookended by her two stints at Victory, Beard played in Europe with Iceland’s oldest football club, KR Reykjavik in the nations top-tier Úrvalsdeild Kvenna.
Beard is no stranger to Brisbane having spent two seasons at the Roar where she made her Westfield W-League debut before going on to be named Brisbane Roar’s Player of the Year & Player’s Player in the 2015/16 season.
The defender is the second W-League star to sign on at Olympic for their 2021 NPL Queensland Women’s return, joining Sydney FC’s, Allira Toby at Goodwin Park.
Beard is in contention to make her Olympic debut in Saturday’s NPL Queensland Women’s Round 8 clash against Logan at Cornubia Park (7:30pm KO).
